The study was published in Annals of Internal Medicine; there are 3,541 men and women their sample Effective Diet For Diabetes1respondents. The respondent ages range from 55 to 80 years old, free from diabetes of course. The study was done for a period of 4 years with no intervention from physical activity to limit calories. They used three kinds of diets, one group used a daily ounce of mixed nut diet, the other one is the control group that would eat a low-fat diet and the other group will undergo the Mediterranean diet.

This Mediterranean diet is a kind of diet rich in nuts, beans, fruits, olive oil, vegetables and few intakes of dairy products with moderate consumption of alcohol.

The result of the study was compared with due respect also to the health and socioeconomic factors, They found out that using Mediterranean diet supplemented with olive oil is 40% lower, 18 % lower with the diet supplemented using nuts.
