In a study conducted by researchers from Harvard University, about half of the 155 men visiting a fertility clinic in the United States are known to consume fruits and vegetables with high levels of pesticide residues. Apple, strawberry, spinach, peppers, and pears are examples of such products and unfortunately often consumed.
The study has been published in the journal Human reproduction found in men with an average consumption rate of 1.5 servings of high pesticide residues sperm can be reduced by almost half. Normal sperm that is also only about two-thirds of the average man in general.

"But this does not mean fertility is reduced. We will continue to work to find out how much effect on semen quality will have an impact on fertility," said senior researcher Jorge Chavarro as quoted by Reuters on Wednesday (01/04/2015).
The findings of the effects of pesticide residues in sperm remain there even after the researchers took into account other factors such as weight and smoking habits.
Chavarro said pesticides studied not appoint only one certain pesticides. Therefore, to avoid Chavarro suggest better eating organic foods or avoid vegetables and fruits that have high levels of pesticide residues.
